I can't be old enough to have a child that drives!

Well, the other day I was reading over all my blogs and they are mostly about how my house is always a mess and I'm getting no sleep. You will be happy to know that even though my house is still constantly a mess (doing better though), I am getting more sleep. Ammon is doing much better at night. He still usually gets up once a night about 4 a.m. but he goes right back to sleep. That has helped so much having more sleep. The point of this blog is, I think I would rather have a messy house and no sleep than have the worries that I foresee in the future!! Specifically, the challenges that come with having teenagers. Kael turned 15 on his birthday two weeks ago and he got his learner permit. I feel like I'm entering a whole new stage of parenthood and I don't know if I'm ready! In a few years I won't have young kids keeping me up at night (I hope) but my challenges will be different than they are now. I hope I can handle it. I am glad that this all happens gradual so I can get used to it! I really don't feel old enough to have a 15-year-old.

Cute Ammon

I went to a wedding open house a couple of weeks ago and took Ammon with me. He was so cute. There was this little dog that kept hopping up on the chair to see Ammon and it didn't bother him at all. I gave Ammon a cracker and he decided to share it with the dog. I wish I would have gotten the picture of Ammon looking at his hand as if to say, "Hey he ate my cracker!"

Running the 5K

Well, I did it. Last Saturday I successfully ran the 5K run. It was such a satisfying thing for me to do this because I am not a runner. I made a goal, I worked at it, and I accomplished my goal. Anyway, my two goals in running this was to run, not walk, at least the first mile and to finish it in less than 50 minutes. I ran the whole 3.1 miles and I did it in 43 minutes! I was the last of my siblings to arrive but I did it! I am planning on running the mile fun run in the Kiwanis Park on the 4th of July--my sisters, brother-in-law, and brother are doing the 5K again but I thought I would just do the mile run. Maybe next year I will be ready to do a bunch of 5K's but this year, one was good enough for me. The best thing that I got from this experience is that if you put your mind to something, you can accomplish anything.

Summer Activities

The kids and I are having a fun summer. The first week was kind of rough trying to get into the routine of no school but this week it has been better. The first picture shows some of the things we have been doing this summer. Every week we get flood irrigation and our back lawn is a lake. The kids have a good time playing in it. I just have to make sure that none of them drink it and get sick! Also in the background, you can see Scott's shed that he has been building. He is doing a great job but it is not going up fast enough for him. It is hard to find the time to work on it plus it just takes a lot of time and work to build it! And it has been so rainy--that has not helped. But I know he'll get it done soon. We will put a lot of stuff that is in our garage right now in the shed when it is done and then maybe we can park our car in the garage! The next picture is of Ammon who is just growing like a weed. He is crawling everywhere now and pulls himself to standing. He will be walking before long. He will be one year old next month and I just can't believe how fast time flies. He is such a joy.
We are keeping busy this summer though. Kael is camping with the Scouts this week in Zion's National Park and we sure miss him. Kalli had a story camp last week at the library that she really enjoyed. Aidan had fun at Basketball camp at the Fitness center and wants me to sign him up again. We'll see. Our garden is coming up and will keep us busy this summer. And my 5K is Saturday. I also signed up for the Freedom Festival one mile Fun Run in July that I am looking forward to. My two sisters and brother-in-law are running another 5K but I decided that one 5K was good enough for me. I ran today at the Fitness center for most of the 3 miles and I am so sore. I hope I make it Saturday. I have a new calling in the church as Primary Secretary that I am really enjoying. I love being with the kids and I really like the administrative duties that I have. Someday, when all my kids are gone and I am looking for work, I definitely need to be a secretary somewhere. I really enjoy that kind of work.
