Summer Vacation plans

So we finally broke the news to our kids where we were taking our family vacation this summer. Since Scott has never been a huge fan of going to Disneyland, they didn't really believe him. This is how the conversation went: Scott--So, Kael, if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Kael-Montana!!! He asks the same thing of Kalli; her response: Grandma's House! He asks the same thing of Aidan--he says, "I think I just want to stay home." I say, "Kael, how would you like to go to DISNEYLAND!!!!" He says nothing. I say, "You're supposed to say by plane...." This is an inside joke because when Kael was 8 and my aunt Mary Ann was telling him that they were going to take him to Disneyland that summer, this was the same conversation they had. Anyway, the kids really didn't act all that excited but it was because they really didn't believe it. This morning I said, "Well, you don't seem all that excited to go to Disneyland this summer so maybe we just shouldn't go." That got their attention!! Moans and WE WANT TO GO! I think that Aaron is more excited than any of the kids---he keeps asking me, "Can we go to Disneyland, now?" It is going to be a long wait!!!

Ammon and his bed

So I moved the play pen into the living room (you can see it in this bottom picture in the background) just in case I might need it in the night. I'm afraid though that I'm going to use it as a crutch. Last night, we put Ammon to bed and he did so well as far as staying in bed. He cried because he didn't want to go to bed but he stayed in bed!!! But he tossed and turned--he has slept in the play pen since he was born and he is just not used to all the open space. So when I checked on him at midnight, his head was at the foot of the bed and his feet were at the head but he was on the bed and not the floor so that was a good thing. At 2 a.m., I heard him crying and I went in and sat with him for a few minutes. He just stared at me and when I tried to leave, he would just cry. I had visions of him wandering around the house while we were all sleeping and I haven't bought a gate yet to put in front of the door so I copped out and put him in the play pen in the living room where he cried for a few minutes and then went back to sleep and slept until morning. Today I put away the play pen so I won't be tempted. He needs to learn how to sleep in a bed eventually and we might as well do it while he is so young and doesn't get even more used to the play pen which is probably not all that comfortable anyway. So I feel like I am hitting another landmark age. My youngest is in a bed and not a crib. It goes too fast.

More science fair pics

Liam, Kalli, Ammon and Aaron (we came to see all the cool projects.)

What smells? They did an experiment on how far away could people smell different things such as vinegar and vanilla.

Great job, team!

The Science Fair

A big thanks to Liam's mom, Mrs. Elliot for helping Kalli and Liam with their project. Tuesday night I tell Kalli, "Your science project is due in class tomorrow and you haven't worked with Liam for three weeks! What are you going to do?" She says, "oh, mom, it will be fine. We'll get together tomorrow afterschool." I say, "It's due tomorrow!!" She says, "it'll be fine" So at 8:30 p.m. her partner, Liam calls and says Kalli you have to come over! We have to work on our project. She yells into the phone, "It's due tomorrow??!!!!" Okay....am I speaking a different language. Isn't that what I asked three hours ago? So she goes to his house and works on it till 10:30 p.m. then the next day I take her to his house at 7 a.m. and they work on it till 10:30 a.m. and they are late for school. But they got it done and it looks very nice. I'm so glad its over. And next year, Kalli....NO MORE PROCRASTINATING!

Kalli, Miss Molly!

Kalli has so much fun in the Drama club at school. Her past parts have included a tree, Sophie, and Red Riding Hood. This spring at the elementary school they are doing a production of the musical "Annie". Kalli auditioned and she was chosen to play the part of Molly, an orphan. She is so excited to be involved in this! She likes the song, "It's a hard knock life" and she is happy that she gets to be an orphan so she gets to sing this song!!! I am so proud of her. She is so spunky, friendly and energetic. She will do a great job. So just some random things....I found out that my neighbor that lives a few doors down, Brother Cryer is getting married again and I am so ecstatic for him. He lost his wife (my friend and visiting teacher, Pat) just a few months ago in october 2009 and I am so thrilled that he has found love again and will not be alone anymore. The cool thing about this is that his fiancee is someone that I know and love also, Mary Larson. She has been in our ward a couple of years. I am so thrilled for her too. Who would have guessed!!! Another random thing....I used to be so good at going to the fitness center and running or at least walking the track and I stopped going in about sept 2009. this week I went Tues, Wed and Thur and I feel great!!! I think I will start up again and make some goals for the year. I am planning on running the Orem 5K in June and maybe even the freedom festival 5K in July. Wish me luck!!
