So here's the story. If you make it through you should get an award. I had a really busy weekend Aug 5-7 and after church sunday the 7th I just crashed. I had body aches and chills and just didn't feel well. The rest of the week, I had some abdominal tenderdness but it really wasn't sharp and I just thought I would push through it. The kids had swim lessons, get them read for school, live life right? No time to be sick when you are a mom. And the whole week I didn't feel like eating and I had dropped five pounds. My husband urged me to see the doctor but I silly over such a small thing. Finally Wednesday a.m. I was feeling crappy enough that I picked up the phone and went to see my Family practicitioner. I got my jr. high student registered for school, our van died so my sister gave me a ride to the doctor. She thought I had diverticulitis and sent me to the UVRMC outpatient center where they did a pic in radiology. I had to drink 6 cups of dye in a hour and I hadn't eaten since 11 a.m. that morning. AFter the pics were developed, the doctors could see right away it wasn't anything wrong with my bowels but I had some serious infection by female parts that looked serious. They couldn't quite see it clearly so they sent me to the Emergency Room immediately about 5:30 p.m. and admitted me. We mostly waited for the doctor who had two deliveries (babies have their own schedule!) and so about 11 p..m. he came to talk to me. He couldn't tell if the infection was touching my appendix but just to make sure, he had a general surgeon be there too. So finally at midnight, they wheeled me into the Operating Room to do a Laparscopic surgery...it ended up that I had some drainage one side and a lot of icky infection and it was spreading to my appendix. My appendix was swollen so rather than take any chances, they just took it out. So I was walking around for 10 days with yucky infection that could have killed me and I'm lucky to be alive. Moral of the story, don't be proud to check something out at the doctor's. It is actually funny that I feel much worse coming out of this than I did going on. My recoveries from my 5 c-sections were fast and I bounced back like that. This is a trial for me definitely because I want to do everything for everybody and I've got to take care of me first. I am so grateful for all of my family and friends and neighbors that have just stepped up to help me without asking. This week, the stumbling block will be making myself eat and drink since I really don't feel like it but I know if I keep doing the things I am supposed to, I will mend. It just seems soooo slowwww. And this is a perfect opportunity for my kids to step up and do things (chores) that I know they can do...they just know if they wait long enough mom will come help. well not this time. :-) I will try and be positive and I know that will help.

Gearing up for a new school year
The last week or so, I have really been not feeling my best. I hate to complain because I know there are those out there that deal with chronic pain every day and I have had it easy compared to them. I just have not felt up to par which is really unusual for me because I tend to enjoy wonderful health. I have had to make a greater effort to be kinder to my family because I get really grumpy when I'm not feeling well. It is a fact of life for me that when I'm not feeling well, I still get to do my mom duties. I am grateful to be a mom but sometimes, it would be nice to just be sick and not have to do anything and not have to worry about anybody. Enough of that. I'm on the mend just in time for school to start!
Next week, school starts for three of my children. Aaron has an appointment to be tested for preschool but we won't know if he made it in until maybe the 29th. If he doesn't, then we will have a fun year with two little boys at home and if he does, Ammon and I will have some alone time which will be nice. We will just have to see what happens. This year, I have three different schools to keep track of. Aidan is in elementary, Kalli is at the jr. high and Kael is a senior in high school. Three different schedules....but we have had so much together time this summer, my kids are ready for some space. I'm excited for them to go back to school and do some life learning, academic learning and social learning. We have shopped for new school clothes, got the school supplies and are ready for a great school year! Hooray for school! (And really; where did the summer go...it went so fast!!!)

Cub Scouts
Aidan is our newest cub scout! I have mixed feelings about that. I think scouting is a great program. It is so much work! Kael did his Eagle project last year at this time and he still doesn't have his Eagle. I am hoping that he gets his paperwork in this week so we can get it all wrapped up. He worked so hard, I would just feel horrible if he didn't get it. We went to an Eagle Court of Honor on Sunday for two boys in our ward that got their Eagle and honestly, it was so hard for me to sit through it. I was trying not to get emotional but it is hard not to get discouraged and feel bad that Kael doesn't have his Eagle yet. But, I need to just keep up the faith and know that we will get through this and he will receive it. So Aidan is so excited to be in scouts now and he has his first meeting this week. I told him that he better get his Eagle when he is 14. but I better get used to the scouting scene because Aaron will be a cub scout when Aidan is in boy scouts and Ammon is two years behind Aaron. We will be scouters for a very long time!

Happy 3rd to Ammon
Ammon had an awesome birthday a few days ago. My baby is three years old. Wow! it goes too fast. When I started this blog, he was just a newborn and I was in survival mode. Since then, life has settled down a bit but at the same time gotten busier. As we move into a stage without newborn babies, there are things I miss (love having a sweet baby around) but other things I don't miss (being in survival mode!) Anyway, in these pictures, Ammon really enjoyed playing with the new little plane he got for his birthday. Also, he got a blue cupcake with Lightning McQueen on top and he enjoyed eating that and getting all messy. He was messy already so I let him eat it and then I put him in the bath. He had a good birthday. He is such a good kid and I'm so proud of him. I'm so happy that he is potty-trained and that he is so smart. Happy birthday, Ammon!
