Fun day with Aaron

Aaron and I had quite the adventure today. We went up to the University of Utah Hospital to participate in a study and then we went to the zoo. The rest of the kids weren't feeling well today and stayed home with Kael (except Ammon who went to school today.)  I knew that the kids were in good hands with Kael so it was nice not to worry.  When I was pregnant with Aaron, I was in a study for gestational diabetes.  When I did the three hour glucose test at the hospital, instead of just going to the lab, this research group put me up in a nice hospital room and gave me the drink.  I got a T.V. and they pampered me.  Six years later, they are doing a followup to the study so they called us up and we decided to do it.  They are paying me for it which is nice and they pampered both of us really nice.  They took aaron's blood first (which he wasn't very happy about, but he did it) and then they fed Aaron a nice breakfast of bacon, french toast, yogurt, juice and milk and grapes.  He was in heaven eating food and watching Mickey mouse Club and Dora on cable T.V. at the hospital.  I got to drink the Glucola (oh, my gosh....at least I'm not pregnant, but the drink was so sweet and sugary...yuck!) and then three blood draws.  I enjoyed reading my kindle and Aaron was so good. In the picture above, you can see he was occupied with a game...it was like legos but they were magnetic.  He separated all the building blocks in piles. He loved the little marbles.  He read books and just had a blast.  After my blood draws were done, they brought me a yummy lunch and then Aaron and I went to the Hogle Zoo. We were so close that it would have been a crime not to have gone!  Such a lovely Fall day and hardly anyone at the zoo.  They are building a new African Savannah exhibit so he didn't get to ride the train but we rode the carousel.  He and I were the only ones on it! It was nice to be at the zoo when there no crowds.  We enjoyed watching the polar bear who kept swimming up to the glass and put his paws on the glass and then he would backstroke into the water.  He kept doing that over and over...it was so entertaining.  We enjoyed the otters and the sea lions, too. It isn't often that I get to spend one-on-one time with kids, so I was so grateful to be able to spend the day with Aaron.  We had a great time!
