Scott's family

I did a blog about my family so I thought I would put up a picture of Scott and his family. This was taken at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building when we surprised Scott's parents for their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2006. It is their last formal family picture. Roy died May 19, 2008 from pancreatic cancer. I know Scott misses his Dad so much. I have been redecorating my livingroom and putting up new pictures. Since I put up a nice picture of my Pyne family, I thought it would only be fair to put up a Wendt family picture so today I have been going through the picture CD's looking for a good family picture to print and put up on our wall in our "Gallery". I found a really nice one with Scott next to his dad but I couldn't get it to load on the blog so this pic is the next best thing. Anyway, I am so grateful for family and I am so glad that we can be together forever. Today Kalli went back to school after a week of being sick. Aidan and Kael stayed home today because they both have coughs that sound awful. Plus Aidan is starting to lose his voice and I just wanted to keep my eye on him and make sure it doesn't turn into something worse. It is strange to have most everyone home. I made Aidan read some books to me and do some homework even though he is home. I love Fall season and we are all getting excited for Halloween. Hopefully everyone will be over all their sickness so we can enjoy all the parties we have planned (school, ward, family, scott's work). Hopefully, next week, I will have some good pics of the kids Halloween costumes.

October 20th

This is Kael practicing the piano while he is watching Ammon for me. Pretty good multi-tasking I would say! We have had our piano for a little over six months now and just enjoying it so much. Kalli is taking piano lessons from my friend, Susan and doing so well. She is a natural. She hasn't been able to practice much lately because of her sickness. Yesterday, I took her to the doctor and we found out that her eardrum burst and she has a double ear infection! She is feeling better today though. Hopefully, she will be back to school soon. The end of the term is Friday for Kael and I have been praying hard that he will stay healthy. So far, he has been fine. I am so proud of how well he is doing in school. I think he is getting A's and A-'s this term. Way to Go, Kael!! Friday is the Mountain View vs. Orem football game and I was planning on taking Kalli and Aidan while Kael plays in the pep band. I think that even if Kalli is feeling better, she needs to stay home to make a full recovery! Aidan loves sports and he is so looking forward to going. Our primary program is this Sunday and I am hoping and praying that Kalli (and the rest of the primary kids for that matter!) is healthy enough to participate. She has a talk and she and I are singing "A Child's Prayer". Hopefully, it will all work out! You know, I started feeling a little sorry for myself yesterday for how this week has been going but that stopped immediately after I talked to a friend of mine. She had her purse stolen this week and has had to get everything replaced (driver's license, credit cards, etc.) plus some other trials have happened to her. The school sent home a note the other day that a fourth grader at the school who struggled with seizures passed away. Everyone has their trials and tribulations. I'm thinking that mine are very small and I am so thankful for all the blessings that I enjoy. I have NO reason to feel sorry for myself!!!

Kari is a Witch!

Last Friday, my friends and I dressed up for the Witches Festival which was at Gardner's Village (an outdoor mall kind of like Riverwoods in Provo at 7800 South in Salt Lake). They had Halloween music blasting, food, lots of displays, pumpkins, and fun! The most fun of the whole experience was meeting at Jerrilyn's house and digging through all her fun stuff and figuring out a witch costume. We did a lot of laughing and had a lot of fun. It was nice to have a girls night out and not worry about kids. Afterwards, we went to IHOP and had a late dinner. We were in costume and had some kids look at us and point "Look at the Witches!" One little girl asked us why we were dressed up because it wasn't Halloween yet. It was a lot of fun. I'm glad that I could get out and have some fun because the next day we found out that Kalli had the Swine flu and I know I wouldn't have enjoyed my night out if I would have known. She was just miserable the whole weekend with aches and pains and fever and coughing but she is better now. We are so lucky that she was the only one in the family to get it. (knock on wood) There has been tons of sickness going around the neighborhood. Last Sunday, we had half the primary out (the whole sunbeam class wasn't there!) There were only five of the 20 kids that showed up in nursery and we weren't the only ward affected. The other ward that meets in our building had a lot of families out because of sickness. I think Kalli's school teacher had about 10 kids out of 25 kids that were out sick and her teacher was home sick too. Hopefully, everyone will be getting better soon.

Our garage is clean!

So a couple of Saturdays ago, Scott moved his "stuff" into his new shed which is pretty much done now and now we have space in our garage to park our van. I am especially excited when the weather turns cold and I won't have to scrape the frost off. It is kind of amazing that we can fit our big old van into a small one-car garage. Ahh, little blessings.

I love Fall!

Ammon is 14 months now and I just c can't believe how big he is growing. I need to let him feed himself more often but this picture shows why I don't. I really hate messes! He had a good time though and then he got to have a bath which he enjoyed too. I have really been horrible at keeping up with my blog. I think I did better when I first started and I had less time and a newborn baby! I don't know why that is. Anyway, I just love the Fall season! It is so fun to see the leaves falling and the pumpkins and the holidays are beginning! It is fun to have the kids excited about Halloween and their fun school activities that they do. We had Parent Teacher Conference yesterday and Aidan and Kalli are doing very well in school. We just need to work a little bit on ATTITUDE with Kalli and staying on task with Aidan. It was fun to visit with their teachers about them. Scott has been working on our apples. We had buckets and buckets from our two trees. He canned over 30 quarts of applesauce. Tomorrow I hope to do some salsa. We had so many peppers in our garden. Next year we want to plant a lot more tomatoes--we didn't really get a lot this year. It is fun to see the pumpkins in our garden. I think pumpkins and grapes are about all we have left to take care of. Sorry I'm a little bit random today. I found out today that a neighbor of mine, Pat Cryer, passed away last night and I feel a little emotional. When we first moved into this ward over 7 years ago, one of my first callings was to serve in the Relief Society presidency with Pat. She was the first counselor and I was secretary. She was a wonderful lady and I will miss her so much.

Kael the scouter!

Last month, Kael was awarded 17 merit badges and his Star Rank. He worked so hard over the summer on his merit badges. I'm so proud of him. In July, he went on a 50 mile hike with his uncle and cousin and their scout troup and that helped him earn about half of the merit badges he got. It is so nice to have so many of his required merit badges done! He only has maybe three or four requireds left, his Life Rank and then his Eagle Project and he is finished. He is probably going to do his Eagle project this summer and I am hoping by next Fall he will be finished! Go Kael! Then I just have three more scouters in the family! YIKES!

Farm Country

About a month ago, I met a friend of mine, Linda, with her two kids and we went to Farm Country at Thanksgiving point. We had a lot of fun. Aaron was a little freaked out about the cow coming so close to him but it was all good. The best thing about the trip for me was that it was the first time I had taken Aaron out in public in underwear and he stayed dry!!! There is hope.
