This year our garden has been amazing. At the beginning of the summer, we taught ALL the kids how to weed it and all summer long we weeded it with them or made sure they weeded it. Usually by July, the weeds are as big as the corn but this year, it has been not as weedy. We planted a ton of roma tomatoes which are coming on pretty strong now and a variety of peppers and now I'm ready to make some salsa. I used to just make it just for Scott but I found out that I like the homemade stuff a lot. I made some really hot salsa for Scott and I just can't eat it. It makes my nose run and it is so spicy that I can't enjoy it. I plan to make me some mild salsa as well as some more spicy for Scott. We planted some sunflowers for fun and last night we enjoyed some corn on the cob from our garden. My zucchini is out of control but I am loving it. Ammon actually likes squash so I can cook it up and at least have one kid that doesn't complain about it at dinner. I planted some herbs this year and I like it so much, I am planning on a bigger herb garden next year. I only did rosemary, basil and parsley. Next year, I want to do some cilantro, too. Also, this year, we used the side patch for the very first time for a watermelon patch. It gets a lot of heat and Scott put in a drip irrigation for the melons and cantelope. This is the first year that we have successful grown watermelon. I can hardly wait to taste them!!!
