Foiled Again!

So Scott got a hook put on the pantry door and life is so much easier. Aaron was so mad when he couldn't get in the food in the pantry anymore! I love childproofing devices! So I took Ammon to his 9-month-old well check today and found out some things. First of all, he had a double ear infection that I had no clue about! He has been a little bit fussier the last few days so it all makes sense now! The other thing I found out is I need to feed him more! He weighs 15 lbs 14 oz which puts him in the 1 percentile and he is off the chart (downward) and very underweight. The doctor suggested I supplement him with formula which I didn't say anything. Ammon will not take formula or a bottle. Anyway, he has six teeth now and can eat more. I will just step up his solids. It has just been challenging to add the solids in because I am so busy taking care of four other kids and the household, etc, etc. It is so much easier to just nurse him 30 minutes and be done. But, I know he is older now and I will just have to say goodbye to the nursings only and get used to giving him more food! Also, Ammon got one shot today and he didn't even cry! What a brave boy. I had to take Aaron along to Ammon's appointment and I was so relieved that he was so good. The receptionist gave him a sticker for being good and he thanked her for it without me having to prompt him or anything! They were so impressed and so was I! I must be doing something right!

That is amazing! Good job Aaron. You are a good mom Kari! You are an inspiration to us all. I don't know how mom's with more than one baby do it! Well technically I have two. I don't like adding new foods either. Carla is only on rice cereal and bananas. :P I love you, keep on chugging along!

Oh I feel your pain. Mia was a chunker, always in the 95th % in weight and height. Claire's 9mo. appt. was about the same as Ammon's. She's in the 10th % for weight. She's not the best nurser because she always wants to watch what Mia's doing or look around. It's really hard. BUT she won't take formula or a bottle. We have really up'd her food intake. She only has 2 teeth but suprisingly she can eat almost anything. I fed her taco soup tonight and she loved that (really chunky with lots of veggies). She doesn't want me to feed her baby food anymore she wants big girl food. Good luck with Ammon (and Aaron for that matter:)

I also put chains on the doors way up high(outside doors). People would say, you know that won't deter a thief from getting in your house. My response to that was, "we aren't trying to keep people out with this, we are trying to keep kids in!" It worked form a while until Jordan saw his sisters pull out the step stool to reach the chain, and now that's not working, but luckily he has finally grown out of that stage. Thank goodness!

That picture of the boys is priceless. You could win prizes with that picture. It is so rewarding when you see the fruits of your labors in parenting. You are definately doing something right.

Our babies on every level seem to be so much alike. I don't know if you know this or not. If you wait to nurse him every 3 1/2 4 hours it will give your milk supply enough time to build up the fat that it needs for him to gain weight. But I'm the same as you :) Theron seems to be sick everytime I take him in for appointments. a few weeks ago he weighed 14lbs 5oz :) don't feel bad, your doing the best you can. Hang in there. If you need anyone to BS with give me a call :)
