Primary is awesome!

I have had the wonderful experience the past two weeks of getting a new calling in our ward. I have so loved my calling as Primary secretary in the ward. It has been so fun to see the kids, and hide in the back and be in the background. I love the administrative details of being secretary and I loved being associated with Debbie, Jayna and Chris who made up the presidency. It was so fun to meet every week and visit and discuss the children. I can remember many times when Debbie would decide something and I would think to myself, "Boy, I'm sure glad I'm not president. I could never do that." Well, I have been given a wonderful opportunity to grow and progress. Sunday, Nov. 15th I had an appointment with the Bishop. I was convinced that it was something for Scott. When the Bishop extended the calling, I was very stunned. That was last thing I expected!!! When I got home, I just could feel a change come over me. That whole week, I just did so much better doing the things that I needed to do like reading my scriptures, saying my prayers. I just felt (and still do feel I might add) so dependent on Him. I just kept saying, "I can't do this by myself! I need thy help!) Since I got this calling, I have felt the Spirit stronger in my life. I have been able to make better choices because it is always in the back of my head that I need the Spirit with me because I just can't do this alone. I have been so amazed at how much love I feel from Him. Also, this calling has made me realize how important ALL callings are in the church. I have been so appreciative of the faithful teachers and others who do their callings so well and so dependably. Anyway, it is an adventure and I have learned so much in the last two-three weeks and I'm sure I have tons more to learn!! I am so grateful for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and so glad for my membership. I know that the Savior lives and loves me. I won't promise that I'll be the best president in the world (I sure have some big shoes to fill!) but I will promise that I will give it my best effort and I will work hard. It is so humbling to be a leader, especially to those I consider my mentors. Primary is awesome!

Kari,
I am so excited for you! You will LOVE it. You will do amazing things in Primary.
I had that same calling a few years ago and served as a counselor before that. It is such a great place to be! I love primary too!
I still remember Sundays when teachers would not show up, the music leader would be gone, a counselor would call in sick, the other one would be in the mother's lounge...and it was just ME. But you just do what you can with what you have and the Lord is there to help you along the way.
Hooray for Primary!

You are going to be such a great President--perhaps the best one ever! (: If anyone can do it, you can.

You'll do a fabulous job. It's the great callings that we have the help us grow. It's the ones that seem like that they may be very overwhelming that make us better people. you are so lucky to be in the Primary. Those little Angels will so great to work with. Their testimonies that are so fresh will help your grow greatly :) You'll do AWESOME!!!

I am so happy for you. You will be a great president. I wish my girls were still in your primary. The one they are in now is just not even close to the one they left and now with you as president maybe I will have to commute them back there. Not really, but I do think you will make an excellent Primary President.
