Random thoughts

Yesterday I read the September Ensign cover to cover and it has been a long time since I have done that. I felt the spirit so strongly. I need to take more time to nourish my soul. Lately I have just been running around getting exhausted by life and I haven't taken the time to feed my soul like I ought. One of the things that I read was something Russell M. Ballard wrote. I've heard him say it before but it was a good reminder. He was talking about technology and blogging and suggested that we could bear testimony in our blogs. That is something I never really thought about but I think it is a good idea. I have so many things to be thankful for and so much evidence in my life that a caring Heavenly Father exists and loves me so much. We have had such a roller coaster ride the past few weeks with Scott losing his job, our fun Disneyland trip and now dealing with sickness the last few days. But I have felt Him there with me and I know that everything will be okay and we will always be taken care of. I hate the uncertainty of the future but I don't know anyone that enjoys that. I just need to keep a positive attitude, which isn't always easy, and a smile on the face and I just go forward!
Two really great things happened last night: One, Aaron kept his underwear dry all night (hallelujah!!!) and two, Ammon slept all night and didn't get up with his croup. (He had been up the past four nights with problems...that steroid shot he got from the doctor yesterday must have helped!) Scott, however, was up most of the night with Aidan who was struggling to breathe. I thought since he was 7, he wouldn't get the croup and have troubles but he proved that wrong last night. I am so sad he is sick because I think he will be missing his first day of second grade tomorrow!!! We will just have to see how things go. He still has a bit of a "Darth Vader" breathing this morning. Hopefully, he will be better soon.
We have really been blessed with our garden. I have canned 8 pints of green beans so far and 12 pints of salsa. I have almost 50 tomatoes on my counter this morning that I have to take care and our zucchini, cucumbers, and yellow squash are doing really well. The corn will be done maybe next week and I am looking forward to eating fresh corn!!! Our garden last year did not do this well and I know that Heavenly Father is blessing us with the food that we need. Well hopefully next entry I will have pics of the kids first day of school. Starting tomorrow, the family is going to experience some changes in routine which is hard but it feels so good. Kael has early morning seminary this year on A days (so every other day) and it starts at 6:20 a.m. Our goal as a family is to read scriptures and have family prayer together before he leaves. I hope that we can do it. I have also made some goals to have a better routine with chores and getting homework done and less T.V. Here's hoping! I know that with God all things are possible!

Thanks for the reminder to be greatful in the blogs. I think I need to do that. I also need to take time to nourish my soul with all the busy things going on. Good luch with the illnesses and the job hunting for Scott!

What a sweet testamony. It is amazing ho much we learn and grow from stinky old trials. I know that they really do become blessings, but going through them is not all roses and butterflies. You have such an amazing outlook on your situation, and on life. Thanks for charing your thoughts and your fun pictures of your vacation. I am so glad you were able to make some fun memories.
