Disappointments
So yesterday, Kalli came home from school sobbing and so upset. She has worked all week on her application for student council and worked on her essay and yesterday, the teacher in charge of the student council took her aside and told her she couldn't apply because her behavior wasn't good enough. She is so disappointed because she really wanted to be a part of the leadership of the school and I am a little disappointed that they didn't even let her try. I know that Kalli isn't a quiet girl but is her behavior really that bad? The teacher told her that sometimes she is rude. Well, now I feel like Kalli has this label in her head at how she is perceived and it kind of makes me a little upset. I told Kalli to prove them all wrong by being on her best behavior ever. When Kalli was crying yesterday, she said something that was a good lesson: She said that she shouldn't be so upset because other people have worse trials than that and I told her that this meant a lot to her and she has every right to be upset. It just made me think that no matter how small or big our problems are, we have a kind Father in Heaven that listens to us and loves us and our trials matter to him. Anyway, she feels better now and she is involved in a lot of things this year with school so she won't be bored. I think she will live through this. :-)

Seriously I remember having experiences like this growing up and how hard they were. Unfortunatly they do not get any better as adults having to watch your sweet children go through them. I am so proud of the way Kali handled her trial. It really showed just how mwture she really is becoming. (Even if she does like to talk.)And there is nothing wrong with having a lot to say.
Wow,
I am not one to sit back. I think I would have gone in there and talked to the teacher. Or go above....NO ONE should be telling Kalli that she can't do something, especially if she had gone to all that trouble. She deserves every right and opportunity that the other kids had. She's lucky I'm not her mom (no offense to you Keri your a great mom, I'm just one that opens eyes more than not, hehe). I'm so sorry that she was shot down. It wasn't fair. Kids are so intelligent. Your lucky to have a such a great one.
I remember having a disappointment when I was young by not getting into a school group that I had tried out for...it really was devastating at the time. And even now, I look back, and wish I had made it! And yet, it was such a worthwhile experience to have to teach me self control, and to learn what disappointment is like. I feel like the Lord really knows how to bless those who follow him... I have received so many other blessings in my life...if I had to trade them all just to get into that group, I'd say NO! It's humbling to know that we don't get everything we think we want or deserve. I'm grateful for that experience when I was young to learn early that sometimes we just need to trust in the Lord rather than our own doing--even if it's still disappointing... I think Kali showed Heavenly Father who she really cares about in the end...don't you think? Good teaching, Mama!!!!
