We have had a good 2012! We have been overwhelmed with blessings this year. We have a good home, great family and friends, and a wonderful life. Here is a recap of the year starting with the youngest Wendt.
Ammon turned four this past summer. He is a very independent boy and you can hear him saying, “I can do that myself.” a lot. A couple of months ago, he announced that he didn't need any help with his seat belt and he could do it himself. So we have reached a milestone in the family that everyone can get themselves in and out of the car by themselves! Ammon started preschool at the end of August at Westmore and goes at the same time as Aaron goes to kindergarten. He has learned how to write his name and loves learning. This past month he got an award at school called “Paws to Praise” He also got a certificate for perfect attendance.
Aaron is six-year-old and is a big Dora fan. He likes to watch Dora and Veggie Tale movies. He also loves to read (takes after his mom!) He started kindergarten at the end of August after waiting so long to be in school. He loves school and has made so many friends. He is a loving, caring boy that always has a hug for everyone. Aaron got to spend some time with his mom one day in October when they both participated in a research study at the University of Utah hospital. They enjoyed playing at the Hogle Zoo together after they were done with the study.
Aidan is in fourth grade this year and enjoying Mrs. Topham's class. His classroom is in a trailer by the younger grades so it is nice to have all my boys close to each other. Since Westmore is building a new school, this is the last year this luxury will exist. The old part of the school that they are in now will be demolished this summer and they will be in a lovely new building next year. We are so blessed! Aidan loves playing sports. He participated in karate in 4H at the school and is now enjoying the basketball club after school. You can always see him with a ball in hand. This energetic nine-year-old also loves Star Wars movies, board and card games, and books. We love having Aidan in our family.
Kalli is fourteen. When you see her, there is usually a book in her hand. She has favorite books that she reads over and over. It doesn't interfere with her schoolwork though as she made the Honor Roll this past term. She is friendly and helpful and loves to be with her friends and our neighbors. She is in eighth grade this year and her favorite class is choir. We love going to her choir concerts and listening to her sing. She also has been learning to play the piano. She got to go to EFY this past summer and she enjoyed girls camp.
Kael, 18, is working hard to earn money for his mission. He works full-time at Navteq taking orders for GPS and giving tech support when needed. He has read a lot of books at work in between calls. He is very helpful at home and his favorite thing to do is to take a nap. He got to vote this past election and his mom can't believe he is an adult now!!
Kari is well recovered from her surgery she had at the beginning of the year and glad to be back into the swing of life. She just celebrated her third anniversary of being primary president in their ward. She is the PTA treasurer at the boys elementary school and also on the Community Council. Her family is her life and you will find her chauffeuring her kids to and from school and work, helping with homework, cooking dinners, and cleaning house. One of her favorite things she did this year was go to one day of Education week late summer with her sisters. Kari loves to practice the piano and has been working on playing the Hymns and songs in the Children's Songbook. She also loves to read and has enjoyed her Kindle she got for Mother's Day. She has read over 150 books this year.
Scott will celebrate his second anniversary at Novarad in January 2013. He works an early schedule so we get to enjoy him coming home early in the afternoon every day. He was recently called into the Sunday School Presidency at church as second counselor. He worked hard in our garden this summer and one of his greatest achievements was his success in growing watermelon. He is also growing some very hot pepper plants. Kari has been so busy she hasn't had time to can so Scott did all the canning this Fall. He canned almost 50 quarts of applesauce and 25 quarts of peaches for our food storage.
We wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and hope that you find joy, love, and peace in the coming days. We are so grateful for the Savior and his love and sacrifice for us and so happy that we can celebrate his birth at this wonderful time of year.

This is our Christmas card this year for those that I didn't get one sent out to yet...Kalli hates this pic of her but I think it is so cute! It is so her...she wasn't feeling well that day and we told her to smile! so she gave us the best one she had :-) My sister took these in my neighbor's backyard and it was still fall weather....the next week it snowed. We should have waited...oh, well. I guess the moral of the story is no matter how perfect you want things, sometimes you just have to let go and let it be. Hope everyone has a great holiday season!!!
