So I moved the play pen into the living room (you can see it in this bottom picture in the background) just in case I might need it in the night. I'm afraid though that I'm going to use it as a crutch. Last night, we put Ammon to bed and he did so well as far as staying in bed. He cried because he didn't want to go to bed but he stayed in bed!!! But he tossed and turned--he has slept in the play pen since he was born and he is just not used to all the open space. So when I checked on him at midnight, his head was at the foot of the bed and his feet were at the head but he was on the bed and not the floor so that was a good thing. At 2 a.m., I heard him crying and I went in and sat with him for a few minutes. He just stared at me and when I tried to leave, he would just cry. I had visions of him wandering around the house while we were all sleeping and I haven't bought a gate yet to put in front of the door so I copped out and put him in the play pen in the living room where he cried for a few minutes and then went back to sleep and slept until morning. Today I put away the play pen so I won't be tempted. He needs to learn how to sleep in a bed eventually and we might as well do it while he is so young and doesn't get even more used to the play pen which is probably not all that comfortable anyway. So I feel like I am hitting another landmark age. My youngest is in a bed and not a crib. It goes too fast.

It is the hardest when your youngest hits all the stages. Libetating in one way and heartbreaking in the other. They grow way too quickly.
